The 15th MARC21 Workshop ‘Reloaded’ held last March 26-27 at Sotero H. Laurel Library, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU)- Manila. The two- day training course drew fifty-three (53) participants nationwide who came mostly from Metro Manila, but there was also participation from as far north as Nueva Ecija, and as far south as Negros Occidental.
With the able cooperation of LPU- Manila Director of Libraries, Prof. Corazon M. Nera and her staff, EISI conducted another successful learning experience for those who wanted to update their skills for the next generation of library automation software. The response was so enthusiastic that EISI has to hold it’s sixteenth workshop soon. “I’m looking forward for more workshops like this. Thank you for this prepared learning of new knowledge to apply in our library!” – Participant
Mrs. Sonia M. Gementiza, Director of Libraries of DLSU- Dasmariñas and Mr. Pedro Tabinas of Electronic Information Solutions, Inc. once again were the trainers of the workshop with the facilitation of staff from EISI headed by Customer Service Supervisor, Ms. Naidz Abragan and LPU Library Assistant, Mrs. Venus B. Oruga.
Although most library automation software use MARC standard, it is not often taught except in an introductory manner. EISI aims to develop a core of MARC-literate catalogers through our MARC 21 Workshops in major Philippine cities. See pictures below.
