The 16th MARC21 workshop “Reloaded” was held at the University of the Immaculate Conception, Davao City, last November 27-28, 2009. It was an intensive training that features the two kinds of MARC21 Format (Bibliographic and Authority) and also included an overview of RDA (Resource Description and Access), a new standard that will be the successor of AACR2. It is also the first EISI MARC21 workshop accredited with CPE (Continuing Professional Education) units. This was the response of EISI to the call for equipping librarians for the continuing innovation of technologies in the libraries today and in the next generation.

Invocation was led by Ms. Naidz F. Abragan, EISI Customer Service Supervisor. UIC Director of Libraries, Sr. Ma. Bernardita Robles, RVM, gave a warm welcome to the participants. Mr. Axel G. Cabarles, Sales Manager, introduced Mrs. Sonia M. Gementiza, Director of Libraries, DLSU Dasmariñas as one of the trainers, together with Mr. Pedro Tabinas, Technical Support Supervisor.

It can be described as another successful holding of EISI’s MARC21 workshop. The trainers as well as the participants showed and exchanged a great informative learning experience. There were five (5) participants, some coming from as far as Luzon. Of course, they did not fail to enjoy the beauty and richness of one of our country’s favorite tourist destination, Davao City. They toured at Peoples Park, Bangkerohan Market and Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort at Samal Island.

The seminar was also featured in the blog of one of the participants.  See what she has to say HERE.
