Starting with version 10 of Follett Destiny, users and staff can access the Destiny Library Manager through Android phones and tablets, as well as Apple IOS devices like Ipad and Iphone.  This means they can now find the resources they need anytime, including breaks in between classes and anywhere they have access to wi-fi or 3G phone signal.  The mobile app is similar in function to the Destiny Quest desktop application, including showing a list of the latest acquisitions, the top 10 books, as well as categories of books.  If a patron is allowed by the librarian to login to the system, he will have additional functionality like account information  (checkouts, holds, fines), ability to rate and review books,  place holds on books, have their own personal book lists.  It’s a useful and much appreciated addition to the library’s offerings.

To try out this free app, point  your Android tablet or smartphone’s browser to this link, download, and install  this app: Destiny Quest Mobile App.  You can also download this app from Google Play (for Android, go to http://play.google.com, just search for ‘Destiny Quest’) or  from Apple iTunes App Market (for IOS) thru this LINK.

The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), in cooperation with the National Commision for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)-National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCLIS) held its Annual Conference at Manila Floating Hotel and Restaurant (MFHR) last November 21-23 2006.

Many delegates from different institutions all over the country attended the said conference with the theme of “Mainstreaming Values of Libraries, Librarians and Information Professionals in Knowledge Societies”. EISI was one of the exhibitors. We were overwhelmed with the inquiries and good feedbacks of our valued costumers. EISI is the official distributor of Follett, Inmagic and other library products in the Philippines.

The Manila Floating Hotel and Restaurant is a real luxury liner berthed at pier fifteen South Harbor, Manila, behind the Manila Hotel.
