Destiny logoFollett is excited to announce the latest release to Destiny, 11.0. These new enhancements empower you to make better informed decisions on real-time data and create a digital learning environment with access to Follett eBooks. Destiny brings further support for digital resources by complying with new RDA cataloging standards.

Since April 1, 2013, simultaneous with the Library of Congress’ changeover to RDA,   Follett has cataloged in the new RDA format, supplying both modified AACR2 and RDA records to customers. New features in version 11 of Follett Destiny ensure that new data from RDA-compliant sources like the Library of Congress can be accomodated by the new system.

A new feature that librarians will love is the dashboard that allows them to view up-to-date data on library circulation, overdue notices, and titles on hold – from one convenient location.  “The new dashboard is designed to help librarians and media specialists more easily communicate key usage metrics to administrators and advocate for the importance of their school libraries,” said Don Rokusek, Follett’s Destiny program director.

Follett e-books are now seamlessly integrated with Destiny, while the mobile apps have been upgraded based on initial customer enhancement requests.  Amazon’s Kindle Fire now supports Destiny Quest, allowing access to both Follett and Amazon.com resources from a single device.

And lastly, the IT personnel will be pleased to learn that the latest Destiny supports Windows Server 2012 and Internet Explorer 10.

To take advantage of Destiny 11.0, contact our customer service (service@aklatan.net) for current customers, or our sales department at sales@aklatan.net for new or prospective customers.

Starting with version 10 of Follett Destiny, users and staff can access the Destiny Library Manager through Android phones and tablets, as well as Apple IOS devices like Ipad and Iphone.  This means they can now find the resources they need anytime, including breaks in between classes and anywhere they have access to wi-fi or 3G phone signal.  The mobile app is similar in function to the Destiny Quest desktop application, including showing a list of the latest acquisitions, the top 10 books, as well as categories of books.  If a patron is allowed by the librarian to login to the system, he will have additional functionality like account information  (checkouts, holds, fines), ability to rate and review books,  place holds on books, have their own personal book lists.  It’s a useful and much appreciated addition to the library’s offerings.
